Pre-Hospital Skills Day 

 

The Pre-Hospital Skills Day is designed to refresh skills and raise awareness in a number of areas relevant to pre-hospital management. The day includes around 2 hours of lectures with a focus on small group skill sessions delivered by experienced faculty. 

The majority of the training is delivered in small groups sessions. Responders participate up to their level of training and have the opportunity to observe fellow practitioners completing advanced techniques such as surgical intervention. An example of this is that all who attend the day will have the opportunity to practice simple airway skills such as manual manoeuvres, the use of simple airway adjuncts as well as observing those who have the ability refreshing skills in surgical airway with all benefiting from the group led discussions to support decision making.  

This course is aimed at those working on ambulances, Paramedics, Doctors, Fire, Police & community responders and Mountain Recsue Casualty Care certificate holders. 

Course length:

1 day (10:00 - 17:30)

  • Scene & Patient Assessment 
  • Skills stations on A,B,C,D
  • Spinal assessment & care 
  • Immobilisation, packaging & splintage 
  • Trauma management 
  • Advanced Life Support 

Pre-requisites:

  • Minimum age: 18

Please note:

  • This is not a licence to practice. The day serves as a refresher and awareness of skills used in a team approach by the appropriately skilled practitioner.
